iAnesthesia 24-Hour Clock

Monday, August 18, 2008

Many users are interested in a 24 hour clock for the iAnesthesia Case Logs application. You may be suprised but this feature is already built into our application!

iAnesthesia Case Logs relies on the default time setting on your phone. If you set your phone to a 24hr clock, the iAnesthesia app will then also display a 24hr clock. Likewise if you are currently using a 24hr clock and want to revert back to the AM/PM 12hr clock you can toggle the switch.

From the iPhone Home screen select the “Settings” App. On the new window select “General” settomgs, which will again open a new window. Scroll down until you see “Date & Time.” Simply toggle the “24-Hour Time” on/off to match your preference.

Security Measures To Protect Data

Monday, August 18, 2008

iAnesthesia is very aware of the importance of data security for the healthcare provider and we have taken multiple steps to ensure the security of your data.

The main step taken is to minimize personally identifiable information from being collected. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) dictates that a combination of a Patient Name with either a birth date or medical record number improperly stored may result in a privacy violation. Whereas only a medical record number with a birth date does not compromise patient privacy if in the wrong hands. Thus, iAnesthesia: Case Logs only tracks information that will not lead to a patient privacy violation.

If a user is still concerned about the security of the iPhone App, they can utilized the Apple Password Protection App.

As for the CaseLog Database, we employ 256-MB Secure Socket Layers (SSL) technology to protect data communications. Similar to the iAnesthesia iPhone app, the database does not store information that would compromise patient privacy.

Password Protect iAnesthesia

Monday, August 18, 2008

Apple has built into the iPhone a password protection application. We encourage user’s concerned about patient privacy and data secruity on the iPhone to enable the password protection application. However, understand that iAnesthesia has been designed to only store data that will not compromise a patient’s privacy.

From the iPhone Home screen select the “Settings” App. Scroll down to General Settings, on the new screen then find “Passcode Lock.” The new window that opens will prompt you to create a four digit passcode. This Passcord Protection will require you to enter these digits everytime you use the phone.
